Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Coastal Engineer in Nelspruit for leading coastal structures design and advanced modeling. You will develop erosion control strategies, collaborate with regulators and clients, and prepare specifications and tender documents. The role requires site investigations and mentoring junior engineers.

The candidate should have a Master’s in Coastal/Civil Engineering, Pr. Eng (preferred), and 8+ years of coastal experience, with Delft3D/MIKE 21/XBeach/CAD proficiency.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Coastal or Civil Engineering.
• Pr. Eng registration with ECSA is desirable.
• 8+ years of coastal engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead coastal structures design: breakwaters, seawalls, groynes.
• Model waves and sediment transport with specialist tools.
• Environmental impact assessments for coastal projects.
• Erosion control and flood risk strategies.
• Collaborate with managers, clients, regulators on coastal matters.
• Prepare engineering reports, specs, and tender documents.
• Site investigations and offshore surveys if needed.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide coastal engineering work.
• Ensure designs meet international and national standards.
