Job summary

Shift Pursuit, on behalf of an established energy and infrastructure client, seeks a Coal/Ash and Bulk Materials Handling Engineer Consultant. You will provide senior engineering oversight and technical support from design through to construction, commissioning and handover on-site across Mpumalanga power station sites.

The contract runs to December 2028. Key duties include leading design oversight for ash disposal facilities, BMH systems, coordinating interface across disciplines, reviewing

Qualifications

• BSc/BTech or Master Diploma in Civil/Mechanical Engineering.
• ECSA Registration is required.
• 15+ years total engineering experience.
• 10–15 years in senior coal, ash and Bulk Materials Handling (BMH).
• Experience with ADF, PCDs, CWDs, and drainage systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design & engineering oversight for Ash Disposal Facilities, coal stockyards, stackers/reclaimers, and BMH systems.
• Perform technical reviews of tender documentation and project documentation.
• Provide extensive project engineering support through tendering, construction, commissioning, testing and handover.
• Coordinate interface requirements across civil, structural, hydraulic, process, mechanical and piping disciplines.
• Drive supplier and stakeholder engagement across capital and operational divisions.
• Support change management and operational readiness for long-term plant operations.
• Act as on-the-ground escalation point for complex construction execution and implementation challenges.
• Resolve operational issues within tight timelines to return plants to service.
