Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Pharmacist - Clinical Specialist for a hospital in Polokwane, Limpopo. The role emphasizes direct patient care, medication management, and clinical pharmacy services, collaborating with physicians to optimize therapy and safety.

You will contribute to policy development, staff training, and clinical protocol advancement, with oversight of technicians and junior pharmacists. A SAPC-registered pharmacist with 5+ years of clinical hospital experience is required.

Qualificações

• Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution.
• Registered Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical pharmacy experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy, clinical pharmacology, and evidence-based medicine.
• Proficiency in pharmacy information systems and electronic health records.
• Experience in a supervisory or specialist role is highly desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services, including medication reconciliation, patient counseling, and pharmacotherapy consultations.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize drug therapy regimens, monitor patient responses, and manage adverse drug reactions.
• Participate in rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, and drug use policy development.
• Review and dispense medications, ensuring accuracy, appropriateness, and compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Educate patients and healthcare professionals on medication therapy, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
• Develop and implement protocols for drug use, therapeutic monitoring, and formulary management.
• Oversee the activities of pharmacy technicians and junior pharmacists as needed.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and research activities within the pharmacy department.
