Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Claims Specialist: Motor within SHA Risk Specialists.

What will make you successful in this role?

  1. Attend to all aspects related to a portfolio of claims, including new claims, current files, diary management, mail, recoveries, third-party claims, attorney matters, settlement within mandate, verification and processing of claim bordereaux (all in accordance with the mandate matrix), etc.
  2. Negotiate and draft settlement agreements within mandate.
  3. Strategically manage a portfolio of claims.
  4. Appoint and manage loss adjusters and attorneys as warranted, in accordance with the mandate.
  5. Monitor service levels and turnaround times as per service level agreements.
  6. Oversee legal loss adjuster fee expenditure and escalate concerns within internal protocols.
  7. Analyse factual and legal issues when assessing claims and bordereaux, including the impact on merits and policy considerations.
  8. Use judgment to make appropriate decisions on claim merits and policy responses.
  9. Conduct strategic assessments of claims and make informed handling decisions.
  10. Attend to all system processing aspects, such as registering new claims, updating reserves, and cheque requisitions.
  11. Respond to internal and external client queries and resolve issues satisfactorily.
  12. Prepare reports as required and assist with statistical and trend analysis.
  13. Guide and mentor junior team members.
  14. Perform daily administrative tasks according to organisational standards and procedures.
  15. Assist with general correspondence typing when necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous Motor Claims Handling experience of 6 or more years.
  • Matric certificate.
  • FAIS Compliance.
  • Finance or Legal qualification preferred.
