Job summary

SMEC, part of the Surbana Jurong group, is seeking a Professional Engineer/Technologist for urban development in Bloemfontein. The role focuses on senior design, project management and delivery of municipal projects, including drawings, documentation, construction supervision and close-out.

You will work with senior engineers to mentor staff, develop project scope, and ensure design intent is translated into compliant deliverables using CAD/Civil 3D tools.

Qualifications

• BSc/BTech in civil engineering or equivalent.
• Professional registration (Pr Eng/Pr Tech).
• Ability to communicate design intent clearly.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and documentation for municipal projects.
• Supervise CAD output and ensure design intent accuracy.
• Coordinate with senior engineers and clients.
• Develop project scopes and deliverables from start to finish.
• Provide mentorship to technicians and junior staff.
