About the Role

Our client, a leading engineering and infrastructure development firm, is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer specializing in infrastructure to join their dynamic team in Nelspruit . This senior position offers the opportunity to lead and manage significant civil infrastructure projects, including roads, water reticulation, and storm water management systems, across the Mpumalanga province. You will be responsible for the design, planning, and execution of these projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent project management skills, and a deep understanding of civil engineering principles relevant to the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of civil infrastructure projects, including roads, highways, water supply systems, wastewater networks, and storm water drainage.
• Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and impact assessments to inform project planning and design.
• Prepare detailed engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Manage project execution from conception through to completion, overseeing contractors and ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and provincial regulations, standards (e.g., SANS), and environmental requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior civil engineers and technicians within the Nelspruit office.
• Liaise effectively with clients, government authorities, stakeholders, and other consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct site supervision and quality control during the construction phase to ensure projects are built to specification.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in civil engineering technology and sustainable infrastructure development practices.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• A minimum of 10 years of post-graduate experience in civil engineering, with a strong focus on infrastructure projects such as roads, water, and sanitation. Experience with projects in Mpumalanga is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in managing large-scale civil infrastructure projects from feasibility to construction.
• Proficiency in relevant civil engineering design software (e.g., Civil 3D, AutoCAD, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS).
• Strong understanding of geotechnical principles, hydrology, hydraulics, and traffic engineering.
• Excellent project management, leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and standards.
