Introduction

A Consulting Engineers company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Engineer, focusing on renewable energy projects to join their Civil Department, situated in Cape Town. The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering design, with specific expertise in renewable energy projects, and will be responsible for the successful delivery of projects from concept to completion.

Duties & Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the civil engineering design and execution of renewable energy projects (solar, wind, and other green energy technologies).
Prepare detailed engineering reports, designs, specifications, and construction documentation.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including environmental specialists, structural engineers, project managers and contractors to ensure integrated and effective project solutions.
Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to determine the suitability of project sites and offer design recommendations.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and legislation.
Manage project schedules, timelines, and resources to ensure project milestones are met.
Conduct reviews of project performance and implement improvements as necessary.
Provide mentorship and training to junior engineers and support staff within the department.
Utilize Civil 3D software for design and modeling, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in project execution.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (B.Eng/BS.c) or equivalent from an accredited institution.
A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in Civil engineering, with a focus on renewable energy projects (solar, wind)
Professional Registration with ECSA, preferred.
Proficiency in Civil 3D software at an expert level, with proven experience in using it for civil design and modeling tasks.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
Strong experience in renewable energy projects, including site development, design, and implementation.
Ability to identify challenges and develop practical solutions to meet project objectives while maintaining cost-effectiveness and sustainability.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment, managing both internal and external relationships effectively.
Solid understanding of environmental and sustainability practices in civil engineering.
Strong understanding of soil mechanics, pavement design, hydraulics and storm water design in renewable energy projects.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining quality standards.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
A valid driver’s license and own vehicle are required for project site visits and meetings.
