Senior Civil Engineer - Water Department

Engineering Firm in Krugersdorp is seeking to employ a Senior Civil Engineer in their water department.

Requirements

Successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • 10 or more years' experience in a relevant engineering environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B. Eng or B.Sc. Eng).
  • Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng).
Responsibilities
  • Promote and apply employee engagement practices, including recognition, empowerment, supportive feedback, partnering, expectations, consideration, and trust.
  • Perform all work in accordance with the company's Quality Management System (QMS), policies, and standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Sign off designs and drawings as a responsible professional engineer.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, options analysis, and master planning.
  • Develop Scope of Work for projects, in consultation with clients or independently.
  • Provide engineering expertise and collaborate with consultants and specialists.
  • Represent the business unit in industry groups as required.
  • Implement standardization, planning, and best practice initiatives.
  • Establish design tools, software, codes, and standards for projects.
  • Assign work tasks, monitor progress and quality.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews.
  • Maintain ethical and professional practices in engineering work.
  • Participate in staff development, including mentoring, training, and performance appraisals.
  • Ensure application of Quality Assurance policies.
  • Contribute to contract negotiations and business planning.
  • Work with design teams during design, procurement, and post-award phases to ensure timely completion within budget.
  • Coordinate with construction teams during project execution to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Prepare and manage technical reports, designs, cost estimates, procurement documents, bills of quantities, specifications, contract documents, as-built drawings, and O&M manuals.
  • Attend site visits and meetings.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
  • 15 or more years' experience in a relevant engineering environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B. Eng or B.Sc. Eng).
  • Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng).
