A leading engineering firm in Johannesburg is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead the design and development of bulk water supply and sewer systems. The successful candidate will manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with national standards and providing mentorship to junior staff. This role requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering, with strong leadership and project management skills.
Senior Civil Engineer
Lead the design and development of bulk water supply systems including pipelines, pumping stations, and reservoirs.
Lead the design and development of sewer systems including rising mains and WWTW (Wastewater Treatment Works).
Develop feasibility studies, cost estimates, and technical specifications.
Coordinate design of water and sewer infrastructure with other disciplines.
Oversee the planning and execution of bulk water and sewer projects from inception to completion.
Provide leadership and manage the team, including mentorship.
Perform financial planning and management.
Manage risk and contracts.
Ensure compliance with relevant national and international standards and regulations (e.g., environmental health and safety).
Handle stakeholder management.
Engage in integrated water resources management.
Perform other tasks related to the position.
BSc. Eng. (Civil) / B.Eng. Civil or BTech Civil or equivalent.
SAQA verification required where applicable.
Masters Degree in Civil Engineering is an added advantage.
Registered with ECSA as PrEng or PrTechEng.
Project Management Registration (SACPCMP) is an added advantage.
Minimum 10 years or more of relevant experience, with at least 3 years at a senior level.
Experience in bulk water and sewer project design and implementation.
Bulk water and bulk sewer infrastructure master plans.
Feasibility studies, design, and construction of water supply and sewer schemes.
Report writing and presentation skills.
Surge analysis.
Pump stations.
Water Treatment Works (WTW) & Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW).
Contract administration and project management.
Knowledge of construction contracts (FIDIC, NEC, JBCC, and GCC).
Civil 3D or Civil Designer or WaterGEMS.
AutoCAD.
MS Projects.
