Hatch is seeking a Senior Civil Designer to join our Earth Sciences and Engineering Division, to be based in our office in Greenstone Hill, Johannesburg.

You will work closely with the engineering design team, leading design phases and implementing design standards on large and highly complex mining infrastructure projects. You will model using AutoCAD Civil3D, review engineering drawings and supporting documentation for details, accuracy, and completeness.

This position will support business development and delivery of studies and detailed design necessary for project execution. You will also review and prepare models and drawings and work together with Engineers to develop design detail drawings and quantities and various supporting documents.

Additionally, you will assist with advanced CAD and BIM technology development while continuing Hatch's leadership in design. The role may include providing technical guidance and mentoring to other technician/design staff to provide innovation while maintaining standards and procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Knowledge and use of tools and drafting including 2D and 3D model development
2. Completing design changes
3. General arrangement drawing production
4. Redlining, annotating, and drafting
5. Thorough quality control (QA/QC) of models and drawings for compliance

You bring to the role:

1. A technical degree/diploma in a related field (civil preferred) with 10+ years of civil design experience
2. Working knowledge of AutoDesk and Bentley products, including but not limited to AutoCAD Civil3D, Infraworks, Microstation, Projectwise
3. Previous experience with large civil mining infrastructure, including earthworks, stormwater management, road design, and wastewater collection systems will be advantageous
