Placements24 is seeking a Senior Chemical Project Engineer for its client in Sandton, Gauteng. The role focuses on managing capital projects from conception through commissioning, ensuring on-time delivery within budget and safe, compliant operations.

You will oversee planning, design coordination, procurement, and start-up activities, leading teams and coordinating with multiple stakeholders to achieve project goals in a dynamic agrochemical environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
• 7+ years of experience in project engineering and project management in chemical/process industries.
• Proven track record delivering capital projects from inception to completion.
• Strong understanding of PM methodologies, tools and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Manage lifecycle of capital projects from feasibility to commissioning.
• Develop detailed plans, schedules and budgets; monitor progress.
• Coordinate with internal/external engineering teams and suppliers.
• Ensure designs comply with codes, standards and safety regulations.
• Oversee procurement for equipment/services; manage contracts.
• Supervise on-site construction; ensure safety and quality.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Liaise with operations, maintenance and management for alignment.
• Lead commissioning and start-up phases and handover to operations.
• Prepare reports and update senior management on status.
