About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Chemical Process Engineer to lead critical projects within their facility located in George . This role involves taking ownership of process improvements, driving innovation, and mentoring junior engineers. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our chemical production lines, adhering to the highest standards of safety and environmental responsibility. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a proven track record of successfully implementing complex engineering solutions within the chemical industry, contributing significantly to the operational excellence of the plant in the scenic Western Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of chemical processes and equipment for new and existing product lines.
• Oversee process hazard analyses (PHA) and implement necessary safety measures.
• Manage process improvement projects from conception through to implementation, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of chemical engineers and technicians.
• Troubleshoot complex operational issues and develop sustainable solutions to enhance process performance.
• Liaise with external vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies as needed for project execution.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in chemical process engineering, with a focus on project management and process optimization.
• Demonstrated expertise in process design software , P&ID development, and HAZOP studies.
• In-depth knowledge of chemical plant operations, equipment, and control systems.
• Familiarity with South African environmental and occupational health and safety legislation.
• Strong leadership, project management, and interpersonal skills.
