Job description

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to join Qatar Airways' Cargo Sales team as a Senior Cargo Sales Agent in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This role is responsible for generating maximum cargo revenue at the station through effective sales strategies and promotions. It includes cargo operations and customer service functions, involving interaction with customers and GHA for both import and export cargo.

Accountabilities:

1. Interact via telephone with freight forwarders, direct shippers, and consignees, providing telesales services, assisting with customer queries, rate quotations, and optimizing export booking, forwarding, and delivery functions while maintaining high service standards.
2. Liaise with local Ground Handling Agents and the Head Office Cargo Department to ensure high-quality service for both import and export cargo.
3. Support import customers in cargo clearance, coordinate with customs authorities for smooth and timely clearance, and liaise with HQ Doha or origin stations for support.
4. Plan flights to maximize capacity utilization, and oversee export and import operations.
5. Coordinate with customers and cargo claims supervisors at head office to handle discrepancies and administrative issues.
6. Disseminate cargo-related information to customers regarding customs, governmental, and health authority regulations to ensure compliance and avoid penalties or destruction.
7. Send official notifications on cargo arrival to freight forwarders, agents, and customers to prevent cargo from remaining under airline custody for extended periods, thereby avoiding damages and managing warehouse space.
8. Ensure awareness and compliance with work health and safety requirements to minimize risks.
9. Prepare weekly, monthly, or as-needed service reports, including system accounting updates for each flight departure.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have:

• Relevant vocational, tertiary, or trade qualification
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
• Excellent communication skills with fluency in English
• High energy and a positive attitude to perform well in a high-pressure environment
• High level of computer literacy
• IATA / TACT regulations knowledge
• Experience in cargo sales
• Excellent customer focus and service delivery skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and team orientation
