Job Description

JD is a leading international multichannel retailer of branded sports and casual wear, combining globally recognised brands such as Nike, adidas, New Balance, and The North Face, with strong private labels such as Pink Soda and Supply & Demand, to provide an elevated consumer experience.

JD Sports is the exclusive retail partner to TFG and will further bolster TFG’s existing positioning as the destination of choice for athletic and leisure sports apparel.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Procure and build appropriate ranges aligned to the strategy with special attention to all trading opportunities.
  2. Attend all appointments relating to product launches and selection throughout the year as specified.
  3. Analyze and review previous week sales with the planning team and propose and drive actions for the upcoming week.
  4. Prepare and present performance reports in trade meetings.
  5. Formulate departmental strategies to maximize sales and source stock accordingly to implement strategies.
  6. Negotiate effectively to deliver on business KPIs.
  7. Build and maintain good relationships with employees, suppliers, and key functions in the business.
  8. Contribute to growth and profit through innovative ideas.
  9. Be available to go on buying trips (local and international).
  10. Understand and deliver a clear product strategy aligned with specific store brand strategies.
  11. Think in terms of the "big picture" as well as specifics and details.
  12. Drive product efficiencies and key measures.
  13. Manage OTB allowance both in-season and in forward budgets.
  14. Present strategy and ranges for approval with relevant key parties.
  15. Communicate effectively at all levels.
  16. Be a team player and foster collaboration across buying, planning, marketing, VM, and operations functions.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Diploma, Graduate Degree, or Post Graduate Degree.
  • Experience in buying branded goods is essential.
  • Experience in buying sports fashion is advantageous.
  • Sound understanding of the retail cycle and buying process.
  • Good working knowledge of current computer software packages, including Microsoft Office.
