Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to play a key role in a critical data transition initiative within our investment operations.

The initial focus of this role will be on mapping and transitioning core investment data—including securities, holdings, valuations, classifications, and analytics—into a new or enhanced data environment. As the project evolves, the scope may expand to include portfolio performance, portfolio risk, and other essential elements of the investment data landscape.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of investment data structures and workflows, excellent analytical and stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

What you'll do:
  1. Deliver efficient and accurate onboarding of the existing fund's data by:
  2. Working with data and process subject matter experts to understand the existing Ninety One data model and data flows.
  3. Analyzing data from the current fund provider.
  4. Providing detailed, accurate, and actionable mappings for loading these data sets into the existing Ninety One data models and processes.
  5. Communicating progress, issues, and risks clearly and on time.
Risk & Compliance:
  • Adhere to the Code of Ethics and related policies, including personal account dealing, gifts, market abuse, etc.
  • Ensure timely completion of compliance training, declarations, and relevant forms.
  • Protect firm and client data and property, including IT data.
  • Report breaches, errors, complaints, or conduct issues.

  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration across teams.
  • Share knowledge, ideas, and best practices.
  • Work autonomously within a self-organizing team framework.
Expertise Required:
  • Technical knowledge: SQL, Excel, and other relevant tools.
  • System/Domain knowledge: Previous experience as a Business Analyst in financial services.
  • Familiarity with financial data such as securities and holdings for equities and fixed income.

  • Location: Cape Town - Hybrid
