Qualifications

Overview

We’re hiring: Senior Brand Designer (Pretoria / Cape Town)

We build beautiful brands that move people—especially in fintech and financial services, where trust and clarity are everything. DoubleShift is a strategic brand and communications agency that partners with challenger fintechs, banks, insurers, and complex enterprises who need clear thinking, powerful brands, and strategies that perform.

We are looking for a Senior Brand Designer who can take a brand from start to finish: from concept and identity creation, through to full rollout across digital and print applications. This role is about more than producing great visuals — it’s about building cohesive brand systems that stand up in the boardroom, on screens, and in the real world.

As a Senior Designer at DS, you’ll craft brand identities that scale, ensure consistency across every touchpoint, and push creative boundaries in one of the most dynamic industries out there: fintech.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the creation of brand identities and visual systems, from initial concept to fully fledged guidelines.
  • Adapt and apply brands seamlessly across digital platforms (websites, social, campaigns) and print applications (collateral, packaging, environments).
  • Collaborate with strategists, writers, and account managers to translate strategic thinking into impactful design.
  • Deliver high-quality design assets for campaigns, presentations, sales collateral, and activations.
  • Present and rationalise creative solutions with confidence to both clients and internal teams.
  • Maintain and enforce brand consistency across all outputs and touchpoints.
  • Mentor and support junior/midweight designers, helping to raise the level of craft within the studio.
  • Stay ahead of design, fintech, and digital branding trends to keep our work sharp and globally competitive.
Requirements and Skills
  • Proven experience as a Senior Designer / Brand Designer in an agency or in-house brand team.
  • A portfolio showcasing full brand journeys: identity creation, systemisation, and rollout across digital and print.
  • Strong understanding of brand systems, typography, colour theory, and design principles.
  • Experience in fintech, financial services, or complex B2B categories is a strong advantage.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma; additional experience with motion or 3D is a bonus.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects while maintaining sharp attention to detail and consistency.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills — able to explain the “why” behind your work.
  • A collaborative spirit with the confidence to lead projects and push creative thinking.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
