Our client is a leading truck rental company seeking a highly skilled and reliable Senior Bookkeeper to join their dynamic team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing daily bookkeeping operations, and ensuring smooth financial processes through to the balance sheet stage.

This role requires excellent problem-solving and finance skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a strong commitment to adhering to company procedures.

The Senior Bookkeeper must be trustworthy, detail-oriented, and thrive in a collaborative team environment.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

1. Complete Bookkeeping Duties: Maintain financial records, process transactions, and reconcile accounts up to the balance sheet.
2. Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in line with company procedures.
3. Accounts Management: Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
4. Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring sufficient funds are available to meet business needs.
5. Problem Solving: Address discrepancies, identify solutions, and resolve accounting issues promptly and effectively.
6. Collaboration: Work closely with the finance team and other departments to ensure seamless communication and process integration.
7. Compliance: Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, tax requirements, and company policies.
8. Audit Preparation: Assist with audits, ensuring all necessary documentation and financial statements are accurate and accessible.
9. Continuous Improvement: Suggest improvements to processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

• Matric or equivalent
• A relevant accounting qualification (e.g., AAT, ACCA, or similar)

Experience and Skills Required

• Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or Senior Bookkeeper, with a strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial reporting.
• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage), Excel, and general office software.
• Strong ability to identify, analyze, and resolve financial discrepancies and issues.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail when processing transactions and preparing reports.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to work effectively with colleagues across various departments while meeting deadlines.
• Able to perform well under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Trustworthy and able to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality and integrity.
