Senior Bookkeeper

Senior Bookkeeper job vacancy in Randburg, Johannesburg.

We are currently recruiting for a seasoned Senior Bookkeeper to join a stable, fast-paced company operating in the wholesale and distribution sector.

This role requires hands-on involvement in all aspects of bookkeeping to trial balance, cashbooks, and income statements, as well as PAYE and customer statements.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate long-term stability in previous roles, have solid experience with Pastel Evolution and Sage Payroll, and be confident handling large debtor and creditor books.

Salary: R40 000 – R45 000 CTC per month.

Permanent (Monday – Thursday 07:00 to 16:15 | Friday 07:00 to 14:45).

Minimum Requirements:

• 8 to 10 years of solid bookkeeping experience.
• Proven experience working up to income statement level.
• Proficient in Pastel Evolution and Sage Payroll.
• Experience with stock and costing adjustments on Evolution.
• Strong knowledge of cashbooks, general ledger, debtors, creditors, and income statements.
• Experience managing debtors’ and creditors of ±R10 million/month.
• Previous responsibility for one direct report preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Full bookkeeping function to trial balance
• Maintain and reconcile cashbooks, including bank postings
• Prepare monthly income statements and supporting schedules
• Oversee customer and supplier reconciliations
• Process and review debtors and creditors
• Process monthly payroll using Sage Payroll, including salary calculations, leave tracking, and deductions
• Submit EMP201 (monthly PAYE, UIF, SDL) and EMP501 (bi-annual reconciliations) via eFiling
• Ensure payroll compliance with SARS and Department of Labour regulations
• Generate and distribute employee payslips and manage payroll-related queries
• Perform stock and costing adjustments within Evolution
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of all general ledger entries
• Generate and distribute customer statements
• Provide management with accurate financial reports
• Maintain strict financial controls and audit readiness
