About the Position

This is a hands-on finance and accounting role for someone who thrives on both structure and autonomy. While the title may say "bookkeeper," the scope is broader youll be the finance team's operational backbone, responsible for the accurate processing, reconciliation, and reporting of financial data.

Reporting directly to the CFO, youll play a vital role in ensuring the financial operations of the business run smoothly and compliantly. The company is looking for someone mature, organised, and detail-oriented someone who cares about getting it right, and who brings initiative to improving systems along the way.

You will work in a small, growing business, wearing multiple hats.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations and working papers
  • Assist with monthly financial close processes
  • Manage VAT submissions and ensure timely eFiling
  • Handle CIPC submissions and support external audit preparation
  • Perform daily client payment checks and reconcile client accounts
  • Manage debit order mandates and process monthly debit orders
  • Administer chargeback disputes and follow up with clients
  • Process supplier invoices and manage accounts payable
  • Issue monthly client invoices and manage accounts receivable
  • Conduct daily bank reconciliations
  • Respond to billing queries via the accounts inbox
  • Administer registration forms and ensure complete onboarding documentation
  • Send monthly statements and follow up on outstanding balances

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in cloud-based accounting platforms (Xero preferred)
  • Familiarity with Dext, Netcash, and HubSpot would be advantageous
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A calm, mature approach to problem-solving and process management
  • Tech confidence quick to learn and comfortable navigating new tools
  • A proactive mindset, someone who notices gaps and takes action
  • Strong communication and people skills as you will be working with different teams in the organisation and assisting clients when needed
