INTRODUCTION
The South African branch of an International organisation that specialises in the purchase and sale of equipment and training is looking for a skilled and self-motivated Bookkeeper to join their team in Claremont Cape Town. Our company is represented in Sub-Saharan Africa by means of Satellite Offices.
This is a full day, permanent, in-office position and the candidate will report to the Director.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Bookkeeping & General ledger management:
- The full accounting function up to Trial Balance.
- Assist with the bookkeeping of associated entities and trusts; including loans and payments between entities.
- Our Office reviews the finances of Satellite offices and integrates them into the Reporting of the Group.
Tax and Compliance:
- Assisting with the preparation of Provisional Tax, Income Tax & Personal Income Tax.
- Preparing the VAT Reports for submission to the External Accountants.
- Filing CIPC Annual Returns.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Process invoices, payments, and receipts.
- Monitor accounts receivable and payables, with bi-weekly reporting.
Bank and Account Reconciliation:
- Reconcile local and foreign currency bank accounts and credit cards.
Ad-hoc & Administrative Support:
- Assist with ad-hoc duties requested by management.
- Related administration duties and support.
- Maintain financial filing systems (digital and physical).
- Maintaining the company's Fixed Asset Register.
Logistics:
- Facilitating imports and exports to customers with Shipping documents and invoices.
- Liaise with Logistics company on status of shipments and information required.
- Beneficial to understand VAT on Imports and Exports with SAD 500, HS codes etc to advise Clients on VAT and possible Duties.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION
Education:
- Beneficial to have Accounting Degree or Diploma.
Experience:
- At least 2-4 years proven experience in a similar role, preferably within an SME environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software - preferably QuickBooks Online.
- Strong MS Office Excel skills.
- Experience in the import and export sector is advantageous.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
PACKAGE & REMUNERATION
Salary is market related and commensurate to qualifications, experience and skills set.
