Placements24 is seeking a Senior Blockchain Data Scientist in Randburg to lead advanced data analysis on on-chain and off-chain data. The role requires 5+ years in data science, a strong quantitative background, and hands-on ML expertise.

You will develop models for transaction analysis, risk assessment, and fraud detection, and build scalable data pipelines while mentoring junior team members. This is a full-time position based in Gauteng.

Formación

• Master's or PhD in a quantitative field.

About the Role

Our client, a leader in blockchain analytics and intelligence, is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Senior Blockchain Data Scientist to join their specialized team. This role is crucial for extracting valuable insights from complex blockchain data to inform business strategy, identify market trends, and detect anomalies. You will leverage advanced data mining, machine learning, and statistical modeling techniques to analyze on-chain and off-chain data. The ideal candidate possesses a strong quantitative background, extensive experience in data science, and a deep understanding of blockchain technology. This is a unique opportunity to work on the cutting edge of data analysis in the blockchain space. The position is based in Randburg, Gauteng , and requires full-time presence in the office.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze large-scale blockchain datasets to identify patterns, trends, and insights.
• Develop and implement machine learning models for tasks such as transaction analysis, risk assessment, and fraud detection.
• Design and execute A/B tests and other experiments to evaluate new features or hypotheses.
• Build data pipelines and ETL processes for extracting and transforming blockchain data.
• Visualize data and communicate complex findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate data-driven insights into products and services.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and blockchain technology.
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the team's technical growth.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in data science or a similar role.
• Proven experience working with large datasets and distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and relevant libraries (e.g., Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Deep understanding of blockchain technologies, cryptocurrency markets, and on-chain data analysis.
• Excellent data visualization and communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Must be able to work full-time from our Randburg, Gauteng office.
