Placements24 seeks a Senior Backend Developer to join our FinTech team in Paarl. You will shape secure, scalable backend systems powering innovative financial products, working across payments, data processing, and security.

You will design RESTful services using Java or Python, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor peers in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment in Paarl. Prior FinTech backend experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of backend software development experience, with a focus on FinTech.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or Go and related frameworks.
• Strong relational DB knowledge (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and microservices experience.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and integrating with external services.
• Security best practices in web app development and financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement high-performance, scalable backend services and APIs using Java or Python.
• Build and maintain secure financial transaction processing systems and ensure data integrity.
• Optimize performance, queries, and architecture for scalability and reliability.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, and QA to deliver high-quality software.
• Write clean, tested code and participate in reviews and architecture discussions.
• Ensure compliance with industry security standards in FinTech.
