Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Aircraft Maintenance Technician (Avionics) for Bloemfontein, SA, to maintain and repair complex avionics systems across a diverse fleet. You will diagnose issues, apply approved data, and ensure airworthiness in accordance with aviation regulations.

The role demands a hands-on expert with at least 6 years of experience, strong problem-solving, and teamwork. You will work in a modern MRO facility with opportunities for ongoing training and career progression.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Aircraft Maintenance (Avionics) or equivalent experience.
• AMT license or equivalent certification (CASA/DGCA/EASA Part 66).
• 6+ years of hands-on avionics experience on commercial or military aircraft.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing GPS, FMS, Autopilots, Radar, Transponders.
• Ability to read complex manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Strong knowledge of aviation regulations and safety standards.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance, inspection, and repair of avionics systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot avionics malfunctions with test equipment.
• Interpret manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical publications to guide work.
• Conduct functional tests to ensure airworthiness of avionics systems.
• Install, modify, and upgrade avionics per approved data and drawings.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records per regulatory requirements.
• Ensure compliance with aviation authority regulations (EASA/FAA or other).
• Mentor junior technicians and foster best practices.
• Participate in scheduled/unscheduled maintenance and on-call duties.
• Contribute to continuous improvement within the maintenance department.
