Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Aircraft Systems Engineer to join our client in Tembisa, Gauteng. You will lead the design, integration, and testing of complex avionics, flight control, and power systems for advanced aircraft.

The role requires at least 8 years of experience in aircraft systems engineering, with strong MBSE/DOORS capability and proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink or ANSYS. Excellent collaboration skills and a passion for aviation innovation are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in aircraft systems engineering or a similar role within the aviation sector.
• Proven expertise in at least two areas: avionic systems, electrical power distribution, flight control systems, or integrated modular avionics (IMA).
• Proficiency in simulation and modeling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, or similar.
• Strong understanding of aerospace standards, regulations, and certification processes (e.g., EASA, FAA).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
• Experience with systems engineering methodologies (e.g., MBSE, DOORS) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of avionic systems, including navigation, communication, and flight control systems.
• Conduct thorough system analysis, simulations, and performance testing to validate design integrity and identify potential improvements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including aerodynamics, structures, and software engineering, to ensure seamless system integration.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including specifications, test procedures, and user manuals.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues that arise during the development lifecycle and post-production support.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to support their professional development.
• Stay abreast of the latest technological advancements and industry best practices in aircraft systems engineering.
• Contribute to bid proposals and project planning, providing technical expertise and accurate estimations.
