About the Role

Our client, a growing provider of aviation technical services, is seeking a meticulous and experienced Senior Aviation Technical Writer. This role is crucial for creating clear, accurate, and concise technical documentation for aircraft maintenance, operations, and systems. You will be responsible for developing manuals, procedures, and guides that meet stringent aviation standards. The ideal candidate has a proven ability to translate complex technical information into easily understandable content for various audiences. This is an on-site position requiring your full commitment at our East London, Eastern Cape, ZA facility. Your writing expertise will directly support flight safety and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Author, revise, and maintain a variety of technical documents, including maintenance manuals, service bulletins, operational guides, and training materials.
• Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and other technical sources to develop documentation.
• Ensure all documentation complies with aviation industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company style guides.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and subject matter experts to gather information and ensure accuracy.
• Manage documentation projects, including planning, scheduling, and tracking progress.
• Perform quality control checks on documentation for clarity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
• Update and manage documentation repositories and version control systems.
• Stay current with best practices in technical communication and aviation technology.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of documentation processes and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, Aviation, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Technical Writer, with a significant focus on the aviation or aerospace industry.
• Proven ability to write and edit complex technical content for diverse audiences.
• In-depth understanding of aviation terminology, aircraft systems, and maintenance practices.
• Experience with technical authoring tools (e.g., MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker) and content management systems (CMS).
• Familiarity with aviation regulatory documentation requirements is a strong asset.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical teams.
• Must be able to work full-time and be based at the East London, Eastern Cape, ZA location.
