About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Automotive Mechanical Engineer to lead critical design and development projects in a remote capacity. You will be instrumental in conceptualizing, designing, and testing new automotive components and systems, ensuring they meet stringent performance, safety, and regulatory standards. This role requires a profound understanding of mechanical engineering principles as applied to vehicles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage projects effectively from conception through to production in a distributed team setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and validation of automotive mechanical systems and components, such as engine parts, chassis elements, and suspension systems.
• Utilize CAD/CAE software (e.g., SolidWorks, ANSYS) for design, simulation, and analysis of mechanical parts and assemblies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing specialists, to integrate mechanical designs into complete vehicle systems.
• Define technical specifications, create detailed engineering drawings, and manage bill of materials (BOM).
• Conduct rigorous testing and validation of prototypes, analyze test data, and implement design modifications to optimize performance and durability.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the engineering team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering within the automotive industry.
• Expertise in CAD/CAE tools for design, simulation, and stress analysis.
• Deep understanding of materials science, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and stress analysis related to automotive applications.
• Proven track record of successfully bringing complex mechanical designs from concept to production.
