Job summary
Placements24 is partnering with a global automotive innovator to recruit a Senior Automotive Design Engineer. This role is remote with operations near George, Western Cape, offering autonomy to drive concept-to-production designs for vehicle components.
You will translate concepts into detailed CAD models, drawings, and BOMs using CATIA/SolidWorks/NX, while collaborating with R&D, manufacturing, and suppliers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years in automotive component or system design.
- Strong CAD/CAE proficiency and manufacturing awareness.
- Experience with powertrain, chassis, or interior components is a plus.
- Excellent drawing, specification, and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead conceptualization and detailed design of automotive components using CAD software.
- Develop 3D models, drawings, and BOMs with high accuracy.
- Perform structural, thermal, and kinematic simulations to validate designs.
- Collaborate with R&D, suppliers, and manufacturing for optimized designs.
- Ensure designs meet production, cost, and quality targets.
- Prepare design proposals and technical documentation for stakeholders.
- Manage projects from concept to production within timelines and budgets.
- Mentor junior engineers and participate in design reviews.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.
