Placements24 seeks an innovative Industrial Engineer specializing in automation and robotics integration in Polokwane. You will identify automation opportunities, select robotic systems, and oversee integration into existing manufacturing processes.

The role requires a strong background in automation, control systems, and project management, with collaboration across engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to deploy automated solutions that boost efficiency and competitiveness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with automation focus.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial engineering with emphasis on automation, robotics, and control systems integration.
• Proven experience in the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of automated manufacturing systems.
• Familiarity with PLC programming, HMI development, and industrial networking.
• Experience with common industrial robots (KUKA, ABB, Fanuc) is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate opportunities for automation and robotics implementation across manufacturing processes.
• Research, select, and specify appropriate robotic systems, PLCs, and other automation hardware.
• Design and develop automation system layouts and workflows.
• Oversee the installation, programming, and commissioning of automated systems and robotic cells.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors on automation projects.
• Develop and implement testing protocols to ensure reliability, safety, and efficiency of automated systems.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for automated equipment and systems.
• Analyze performance data from automated systems to identify areas for optimization and continuous improvement.
• Develop training materials and conduct training for operators and maintenance personnel on new automated systems.
• Stay current with advancements in automation technology, robotics, and Industry 4.0 concepts.
