Job Description

To lead a technology strategy that will ensure adequate manufacturing and testing equipment capacity at all EDU EIU and ED plants, as well as provide technical engineering support for the control equipment assembling plant. This includes maintenance and upgrades of existing systems, as well as the design and development of future automated facilities. The role also involves managing engineering projects, including relevant technical engineering and software teams in both the EIU and CE Operations.

Required Outputs: Functional

1. Identify potential areas for improvement in current manufacturing and testing equipment and processes; manage the implementation of replacement equipment/processes.
2. Plan, organize, and control engineering initiatives to meet future capacity requirements, ensuring the sustenance of existing systems and the success of new projects.
3. Identify new technologies, processes, or standards to improve and optimize quality, reduce costs, and enhance the supply chain of DetNet in manufacturing and assembly processes.
4. Lead the development of automation processes across the entire supply chain.
5. Support outsourced automation projects by creating documentation such as user requirement specifications, providing technical assistance, overseeing commissioning, integrating systems, and offering long-term support.
6. Provide manufacturing insights during product development or major changes to influence early-stage product and process decisions.
7. Stay updated on new product developments, especially in R&D, and collaborate throughout the product lifecycle.
8. Lead manufacturing personnel in implementing new automation and manufacturing standards, including documentation, project planning, templates, parts standards, and commissioning procedures.
9. Support current legacy equipment and systems technically.
10. Transfer knowledge related to DetNet manufacturing processes to team members to enhance technical capabilities.
11. Continuously develop technical skills to become an automation expert.
12. Facilitate communication and integration across departments to improve the supply chain processes.

Qualifications & Experience

• BEng in Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of experience in automation engineering and developing new systems in a high-tech environment.
• Understanding of electronic, mechanical, and mechatronic system design.
• Experience with electronic initiation and the mining industry is advantageous.
