The successful candidate will plan and execute complex audits, evaluate internal controls, and collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen governance. A strong background in SA financial services regulations and at least 5 years of relevant experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related discipline.
• CIA, CISA, CA(SA) certifications are advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in internal auditing, external auditing, or compliance roles within financial services.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive internal audits of financial processes, systems, and controls focusing on regulatory compliance.
• Evaluate risk management strategies and governance frameworks within financial services.
• Assess adherence to FAIS, FICA, POPIA and other relevant regulations.
• Identify control deficiencies and compliance breaches; document findings and remediation actions.
• Prepare detailed audit reports for senior management and Audit Committee.
• Follow up on audit recommendations to ensure effective implementation.
• Perform financial, operational, and IT audits as required.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices.
• Liaise with external auditors and regulatory authorities during inspections.
• Contribute to developing and enhancing internal audit methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in internal auditing, external auditing, or compliance roles within the financial services industry.
• In-depth knowledge of South African financial services regulations and compliance frameworks.
• Proven experience in planning and executing complex audit assignments.
• Strong understanding of financial products, markets, and operational risks.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and concisely.
• Proficiency in audit management software and data analytics tools is a plus.
• High degree of integrity, ethical conduct, and attention to detail.
