Job description

Our client, a prestigious boutique law firm based in Sandton, is seeking an experienced Senior Associate: Litigation to join their dynamic team.

The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload of litigation matters across various legal areas, ensuring cases progress efficiently from inception to resolution.

Responsibilities:
  1. Monitor deadlines closely to ensure timely filing and court appearances.
  2. Conduct comprehensive legal research on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law to inform litigation strategies and provide accurate, well-supported legal advice to clients.
  3. Prepare and draft a wide range of legal documents, including but not limited to pleadings, motions, affidavits, discovery requests, and settlement agreements.
  4. Ensure compliance with all applicable legal and procedural requirements, including court rules, filing deadlines, and ethical obligations.
  5. Oversee administrative tasks related to litigation, including maintaining up-to-date case files, tracking billable hours, and preparing billing statements in line with firm policies.
  6. Provide strategic legal advice to clients on a wide range of litigation matters, including contract disputes, personal injury claims, property disputes, labor law issues, and other areas of civil and criminal litigation.
Key Requirements:
  1. Admitted attorney with an LLB / BA Law / BCom Law degree.
  2. 4-6 years PQE.
  3. Strong background in litigation from a large firm.
  4. In-depth knowledge of High Court and Magistrates Court processes.
  5. Criminal law experience beneficial.
