Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Architectural Designer for its Midrand, Gauteng office. You will lead design development from concept to detailed documentation, coordinating with clients and engineers to deliver high-quality, sustainable solutions.

You will mentor junior staff, oversee site visits, and drive the integration of new materials and technologies while adhering to codes and standards in a collaborative team setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in architectural design.
• Proficiency in architectural design software, including Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Demonstrated expertise in sustainable design principles and relevant certifications (e.g., LEED AP).
• Strong understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, and construction methodologies.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts effectively.
• Proven leadership abilities and experience managing design teams.
• Experience working in the Gauteng region is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design development process for various architectural projects, from conceptualization to detailed documentation.
• Collaborate with clients to understand project requirements, objectives, and aesthetic preferences.
• Coordinate with engineering consultants (structural, MEP, civil) to integrate building systems seamlessly.
• Prepare high-quality presentation materials, including renderings, models, and technical drawings.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant building codes, regulations, and sustainability standards.
• Mentor and guide junior architectural staff, fostering their professional development.
• Conduct site visits and project administration tasks during the construction phase.
• Research and integrate innovative materials and technologies into design solutions.
• Contribute to the firm's sustainability initiatives and design best practices.
