Glucode (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Android to design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android apps. You will take technical leadership, mentor junior developers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, robust solutions.

You will work in a hybrid Sandton setup, focusing on modern Android tech like Jetpack Compose, MVVM and RESTful services, while participating in code reviews and ensuring top-notch quality.

Qualifications

• Requires tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proficient in Kotlin and Java for Android native development.
• Experience with Android architecture patterns (MVVM, MVP, Clean Architecture).
• Strong knowledge of UI components like RecyclerView and ConstraintLayout.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, data caching and offline sync.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins/Travis CI) and Gradle.
• Proficient in Git version control and TDD with JUnit/Mockito.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate developers.
• Design, develop and maintain complex Android applications with scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope and deliverables.
• Create and maintain technical documentation including architecture and test plans.
• Lead code and design reviews to ensure quality and maintainability.
• Ensure thorough testing and validation, working with QA to resolve defects.
