Job summary

Techrepo.co.za is seeking a skilled Data Analytics / Data Engineering professional to design and own the analytics layer, ensure data governance, and implement scalable data solutions.

You will translate business challenges into actionable metrics, collaborate with stakeholders, and mentor junior engineers, with a strong emphasis on dbt, SQL, and cloud data warehousing within a FinTech context.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Analytics/Data Engineering experience.
• Expertise in dbt and advanced SQL.
• Experience with one modern cloud warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift).
• Experience with an orchestrator (Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect).
• Expert in BI tool administration and semantic layer design (LookML).
• Proven ability to lead projects and mentor team members.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end analytics layer and data governance standards.
• Define modeling standards and workflows for dbt and source control.
• Translate complex business challenges into clear metrics and models.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align data delivery with strategy.
• Coach and guide engineers, shaping the team's technical roadmap.
• Demonstrate experience designing data contracts and semantic layers.
• Lead projects with stakeholder mgmt and drive business outcomes.
• Focus on performance and efficiency in system design.
