This is a unique South African (Johannesburg) based opportunity with approximately 30% of time spent on site in the DRC (Kinsevere).
The core accountabilities of this role include framing and delivery of quality business investment and commercial analysis in support of major decisions in the areas of project studies, operational site investments and decision making. This position is also accountable for developing and maintaining the life of asset model for Kinsevere.
Success in this position requires the ability to communicate effectively with operations, obtain appropriate inputs in order to fully evaluate investment options and make recommendations to senior management.
Accountabilities / Responsibilities
- Support in effective evaluating and communicating major business investment and commercial proposals.
- Contribute to Kinsevere Life of Asset (LoA) modelling including collation of technical and financial inputs, to deliver a LoA evaluation that communicates risks and uncertainties to the MMG Executive level in support of MMG's long-term business planning process.
- Build and develop the Kinsevere LoA financial model by identifying and executing financial model improvements.
- Promote and support the implementation of Business Evaluation initiatives and support the Principal – Reporting & Planning role in the reporting of those initiatives to enhance the organization's reputation for determining the right projects/acquisitions through diligent collation of input data and best practice evaluation techniques.
- Contribute and support the Principal – Reporting & Planning role in building and maintaining effective working relationships with site management, commercial & operations teams and Group office functions, including Group Business Evaluation and Group Finance.
Skills
- Ability to develop rapport, and build strong relationships across MMG Operations and Group Office to influence outcomes through strong communication skills, written and verbal, and effective presentation delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to understand business problems in operational environments and develop solutions through teamwork and collaboration.
- Advanced numerical reasoning, analytical skills and understanding of financial management practices, financial modelling and application of valuation techniques.
- Must have extensive Excel modelling experience.
- Ability to understand technical and commercial mining information and translate it into a business case.
- Ability to access (including via SAP), manipulate and interpret data and draw conclusions.
- Ability to solve complex problems.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience with corporate planning and analysis, financial modelling, and investment decision-making activities.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience working in a mining environment.
- Experience at an operating mine site or as a member of a development project owners team will be valued.
Qualifications
- Language skills: English (essential), French and Mandarin would be an added advantage.
