Air Chefs in Johannesburg or Ballito with fully remote option seeks a senior software engineer to lead the design, build, and roadmap of AI agents for insurance clients.

You will map complex insurance journeys to agent workflows, integrate agents with core systems via APIs, and drive improvements through data and feedback, while ensuring compliance and security.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering with 2+ years building production LLM/AI agents.
• Hands-on experience with RAG, tool calling, and agent frameworks.
• Strong Python or TypeScript, and API integration skills.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years in software engineering, with 2+ years building production LLM/AI agents
• Hands-on experience with RAG, tool calling, and agent frameworks
• Strong Python or TypeScript, and API integration skills
• Experience in insurance (claims, policy servicing) or financial services
• Ability to explain AI behavior to non-technical stakeholders
• Product sense to measure success and client impact
