Job summary

ATS Client in Johannesburg is seeking a highly motivated AI Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and maintain intelligent systems that leverage machine learning, deep learning, and AI technologies.

The successful candidate will work with cross-functional teams to build scalable AI-powered solutions, transform complex data into actionable insights, and support the delivery of innovative products and services. This permanent hybrid role offers a salary up to ZAR 1.3 million per annum.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Data Science/AI or related field.
• 5+ years in AI/ML/Data Science roles.
• Hands-on with large structured and unstructured data.
• Experience deploying AI apps with Python frameworks.
• Experience building REST APIs and cloud integrations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, train, and deploy ML/DL models.
• Build AI-powered applications including NLP, CV, recommender, generative AI.
• Prepare data: collect, clean, preprocess, analyze large datasets.
• Perform feature engineering and data transformation.
• Deploy models into production via APIs, microservices, and cloud.
• Monitor model performance and retrain/optimise as needed.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, PMs, and stakeholders.
• Stay updated with emerging AI tech and industry trends.
