Job summary

Absa in South Africa is seeking a senior actuarial leader to drive experience investigations and assumption setting, enabling informed risk and performance management. You will collaborate with CFOs, Exco, and Board committees, while guiding actuarial students and ensuring robust controls across the value chain.

The role requires a Fellow Actuary with 7+ years in corporate actuarial life office valuations, and a strong foundation in data science techniques and AI-enabled tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science required.
• Fellow actuary qualification required.
• 7+ years in corporate actuarial life office valuations.

Responsibilities

• Drive delivery of experience investigations and assumption setting, including first-line quality assurance.
• Improve investigation techniques with statistical tests, data quality and ML to support setting of assumptions.
• Develop robust controls ensuring assumptions are reflected across the insurance value chain.
• Collaborate with and deliver for CFOs, Exco, and Board committees.
• Lead talent development and exam progression of actuarial students.
