Old Mutual in Johannesburg invites an experienced actuary to join the Retail Mass Market Product and Pricing team. You will oversee product development, pricing, experience analysis and strategic initiatives to deliver customer value and sustainable growth.

The role suits a commercially minded actuary who thrives on complex problems, cross-functional collaboration and influencing business decisions across Customer Proposition, Finance, Legal and IT. IFRS 17 knowledge is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Qualified or nearly qualified actuary.
• 6+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance or protection products.
• Experience in product development, pricing and/or experience investigations.
• Good understanding of life insurance products and profitability drivers.
• IFRS 17 knowledge will be advantageous.
• Appointment may be made at a lower role size based on experience and exam progress.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and enhancement of protection products.
• Perform pricing reviews, recommend and implement product and pricing changes.
• Conduct experience investigations and provide actionable insights.
• Monitor product performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support strategic projects and business priorities across the Protection Product team.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Customer Proposition, Finance, Correspondence, Legal, IT and Servicing.
• Assist with the implementation, testing and governance of product and pricing changes.
• Lead, manage and develop team members, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team.
