Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Lead Actuarial Analyst in Cape Town to head pricing, reserving and financial modeling for the life insurance division. You will lead a team of actuaries, drive innovative actuarial methodologies and provide insights to senior management for strategic decisions.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in life actuarial roles, fully qualified (FIA/FSA or equivalents), with strong skills in Prophet/AXIS and programming in R/Python. IFRS 17 and Solvency II knowledge is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years actuarial experience in life insurance.
• Fully qualified actuary (FIA/FSA or equivalent).
• Experience in pricing, reserving and financial modeling.
• Strong proficiency in Prophet and AXIS; programming in R and Python.
• Excellent analytical, statistical and communication abilities.
• Leadership and team management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of actuarial professionals, overseeing project delivery and professional development.
• Develop, implement, and validate pricing models for life insurance products.
• Conduct regular reserving calculations and analyses.
• Perform financial projections and sensitivity testing for economic scenarios.
• Collaborate with product development, marketing and finance to support business objectives.
• Present actuarial findings to senior management and regulatory bodies.
