Position: Senior Accountant
You will oversee various aspects of financial management and ensure accuracy in reporting.
Responsibilities
- Accounting Leadership: Lead accounting activities, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to strategic financial decision-making.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Implement accounting systems and processes for the organization.
- Oversee the duties and performance of the accounting team.
- Detect and prevent financial frauds.
- Liaise with auditors and stakeholders.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze accurate financial statements in accordance with accounting principles. Present monthly management accounts, including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and ratios. Ensure compliance with regulations.
- Month-End and Year-End Close: Lead closing processes, reconcile accounts, and prepare adjusting journal entries. Collaborate with teams for financial data gathering.
- General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Contribute data and analysis for budgets and forecasts. Monitor performance against budgets.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct trend and variance analysis, provide insights and recommendations.
- Audit Support: Prepare schedules, documentation, and address inquiries. Implement audit recommendations.
- Tax Compliance: Assist with tax returns and compliance. Collaborate on tax planning.
- Fixed Assets Management: Manage asset accounting, depreciation, and disposal. Ensure accurate records.
- Financial Systems: Oversee system maintenance and collaborate on upgrades.
- Team Leadership: Mentor accountants and conduct training on processes and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- Chartered Accountant with 9-10 years of experience.
- Mining experience preferred.
- Knowledge of IFRS, SARS, SARB regulations.
- Extensive experience in accounting, financial reporting, and analysis.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Excel.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with high accuracy.
