Position: Senior Accountant

You will oversee various aspects of financial management and ensure accuracy in reporting.

Responsibilities

1. Accounting Leadership: Lead accounting activities, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to strategic financial decision-making.
2. Key Responsibilities:
   • Implement accounting systems and processes for the organization.
   • Oversee the duties and performance of the accounting team.
   • Detect and prevent financial frauds.
   • Liaise with auditors and stakeholders.
3. Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze accurate financial statements in accordance with accounting principles. Present monthly management accounts, including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and ratios. Ensure compliance with regulations.
4. Month-End and Year-End Close: Lead closing processes, reconcile accounts, and prepare adjusting journal entries. Collaborate with teams for financial data gathering.
5. General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies.
6. Budgeting and Forecasting: Contribute data and analysis for budgets and forecasts. Monitor performance against budgets.
7. Financial Analysis: Conduct trend and variance analysis, provide insights and recommendations.
8. Audit Support: Prepare schedules, documentation, and address inquiries. Implement audit recommendations.
9. Tax Compliance: Assist with tax returns and compliance. Collaborate on tax planning.
10. Fixed Assets Management: Manage asset accounting, depreciation, and disposal. Ensure accurate records.
11. Financial Systems: Oversee system maintenance and collaborate on upgrades.
12. Team Leadership: Mentor accountants and conduct training on processes and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• Chartered Accountant with 9-10 years of experience.
• Mining experience preferred.
• Knowledge of IFRS, SARS, SARB regulations.
• Extensive experience in accounting, financial reporting, and analysis.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Excel.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with high accuracy.
