Our client, based in Cape Town, offers innovative asset management systems. They have a vacancy for a SENIOR ACCOUNTANT, to be based at their head-office in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. This is a hybrid position with the incumbent expected to work from the office for three days a week.The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the full accounting cycle, maintaining the general ledger and preparing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures.
POSITION INFO : RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Ensure compliance with IFRS standards and with internal accounting policies.
- Managing intercompany transactions according to the Transfer Pricing Policy.
- Liaise with regional accounting and tax service providers (where applicable), to ensure the filing of any statutory local returns is done timely and accurately.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and provide balance sheet analysis.
- Identify areas of improvement of business processes to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Assist with tax audits and, where applicable, prepare tax returns.
- Perform quarterly tax effect accounting.
- Assisting with annual audit preparations.
- Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
- Preparing financial analyses and reports.
- Ensuring the general ledger is perfectly maintained.
- Ad hoc assistance to the Group Financial Controller with reports, etc.
- Collaborate across regions with Administration Officers and Regional Operation Managers.
- Mentoring of junior staff.
REQUIREMENTS :
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar position in mid-sized companies
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- SAIPA / SAICA / CIMA / ACCA / SAIBA registration will be advantageous but is not a requirement
- In-depth understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions would be a distinct advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel
- A sound knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP would be advantageous
