Senior Accountant

We don’t do old-school accounting. We’re building lean, high-performing pods — each responsible for managing their own portfolio of clients and delivering high-quality work without micromanagement. Our South African team is growing fast — and we’re hiring a capable Senior Accountant to help us lift the bar even further.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Accountant who can deliver accurate, timely monthly accounts and assist in the preparation of final year-end accounts and tax returns. You’ll be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting workflows, reviewing work from junior team members, and helping ensure the pod consistently meets high delivery standards.

You’ll collaborate closely with the Team Lead and Client Manager, bringing technical experience and calm consistency to the team.

Delivery & Accuracy

• Deliver reconciliations, monthly management accounts, and VAT returns for Tier 1–3 clients
• Prepare year-end accounts and tax returns in collaboration with your Team Lead
• Flag blockers, gaps, or inconsistencies in workflows before they impact clients
• Ensure documentation and working papers are complete and compliant

Review & Mentoring

• Review junior accountants' work, ensuring accuracy and alignment with process
• Help identify recurring issues and guide junior staff toward improved quality
• Assist in onboarding new hires into our systems and standards

Systems & Reporting

• Work confidently with tools like Xero, Dext, Active Workpapers, and Syft
• Ensure all data is up to date, reconciled, and ready for reporting
• Apply best practice SOPs and contribute to their ongoing refinement
• Use automation and AI-driven tools to support accuracy and reduce manual work

Team Support

• Communicate regularly with your Team Lead and Client Manager
• Participate in team meetings, knowledge sharing, and delivery improvement sessions
• Support ad-hoc requests during onboarding or when delivery issues arise

Must-Have:

• 3–5+ years accounting experience in a practice or high-quality BPO environment
• Confident delivering monthly accounts, reconciliations, and VAT returns
• Strong working knowledge of cloud accounting tools (especially Xero)
• Experience working with a variety of SME clients
• High attention to detail, with the ability to manage your own workflow

Nice to Have:

• Experience with IRE or UK tax or accounting standards (training provided)
• Exposure to automation or AI-enabled workflows
• Experience mentoring or reviewing junior team members
