Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join the Port Elizabeth team.
- Supervise and initiate the processing of client information receipts, sales invoices, and purchase invoices.
- Perform bank reconciliations.
- Process and reconcile petty cash and cash control accounts.
- Maintain a fixed asset register.
- Prepare general journals, including depreciation, provisions, interest, salaries, stock, etc.
- Process journal entries such as new installment sale agreements, interest on borrowings, provisions, accruals of income and expenses, bad debts, etc.
- Distinguish between finance and operating leases.
- Handle foreign exchange transactions.
- Reconcile debtors and creditors statements.
- Ensure correct accounting treatment on disposal of assets (property, plant & equipment) and investments, including taxation on capital gains/losses.
- Analyze the trial balance for errors or deviations and discuss results with clients.
- Conduct analytical review of Annual Financial Statements (AFS) - GP%, Inventory days, Creditors days, Debtors days.
- Record books from insufficient records when necessary.
- Produce draft financial statements following generally accepted accounting practices and prepare working paper files according to standards for various entity types such as sole proprietors, close corporations, trusts, partnerships, small business corporations, farmers, and Body Corporates.
Requirements
- Grade 12 with Accounting.
- BCom Degree or Diploma.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting firm.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Proficient in accounting software.
