Job description

A well-established company in the earthmoving and mining industry is currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions in Isando, Kempton Park.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, financial planning, risk management, budgeting, leadership experience, and regulatory compliance. Strong analytical and organizational skills, along with a solid understanding of financial regulations, are essential.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field (Masters or MBA preferred)
• CPA, CMA, CFA, or equivalent certification preferred
• 5-10 years of progressive experience in financial management, accounting, or related roles
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting standards
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Acumatica, QuickBooks, SAP, Microsoft), with Acumatica experience a significant advantage
• Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
• Knowledge of tax reporting and compliance
• Experience in strategic planning and business development
• Understanding of international finance and multi-currency environments
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Familiarity with inventory, job costing, and project-based accounting

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger operations
• Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
• Develop, manage, and oversee financial planning and analysis (FP&A)
• Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses
• Support strategic initiatives through financial modeling and analysis
• Assist in preparing financial statements in compliance with GAAP or IFRS
• Analyze financial data to support strategic decisions
• Manage internal controls, audits, and risk assessments
• Support internal and external audits with documentation and explanations
• Manage internal policies, procedures, and risk assessments
• Mentor and supervise finance/accounting staff
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet operational and financial goals
