Atlas Finance is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the finance team with day-to-day transactional accounting in Gauteng. The role focuses on accuracy, compliance, and timely financial reporting. You will maintain the general ledger, assist with monthly statements, and support audits.

The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software and Excel. A relevant degree and SA regulatory knowledge are preferred.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to support our finance team in managing day-to-day accounting functions. This role is primarily focused on transactional accounting and will position you to play a vital role in ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and process invoices, ensuring timely and accurate billing.
• Maintain the general ledger by recording journal entries and reconciling accounts.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets.
• Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
• Support the accounts payable and receivable functions, including payment processing and collections.
• Prepare and file local tax returns as required, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Working knowledge of database software and integration thereof with accounting software.
• Assist in the annual audit process by providing necessary financial documentation.
• Collaborate with team members to improve accounting processes and systems where necessary.

Requirements

• Proven track record in accounting or a related field, demonstrating strong analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and transactions.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Sage, AccPac or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic understanding of financial regulations and compliance standards relevant to South Africa.

Preferred Qualifications

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Experience with financial software implementation or upgrade projects.
• Familiarity with local tax laws and regulations.
