Placements24 is seeking a Senior 5G Network Engineer to design, deploy, and optimize next-generation 5G networks. This fully remote position requires deep expertise in 5G architecture, RAN, and core network components, with leadership responsibilities for junior engineers.

You will work with a distributed team, ensuring high performance, security, and adherence to 3GPP standards while staying current with evolving mobile technologies from Stellenbosch, Western Cape, ZA.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• 7+ years of wireless network engineering with a strong 5G focus.
• Deep knowledge of 5G NR, SA/NSA, LTE and core network elements (AMF/SMF/UPF).
• Experience with network simulation and monitoring tools.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable 5G network solutions across RAN, transport, and core.
• Develop deployment strategies for 5G technologies ensuring optimal performance.
• Perform performance analysis, capacity planning, and network optimization for 5G services.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues and identify root causes remotely.

Our client, a global leader in telecommunications infrastructure, is seeking a highly experienced Senior 5G Network Engineer to join their fully remote team. This position is critical for the design, deployment, and optimization of next-generation 5G networks. You will work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with a distributed team of experts to deliver robust and high-performance wireless solutions. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in 5G architecture, radio access networks (RAN), and core network components. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of 5G NR, SA/NSA architecture, LTE, core network elements (AMF, SMF, UPF), and transport technologies.
• Proficiency with network simulation and modeling tools.
• Experience with network performance monitoring and analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of IP networking, routing protocols, and security principles.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative team environment.
• Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
• Experience with cloud-native network functions (CNFs) and containerization technologies is a plus.
