Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Enforce security policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain a safe and secure environment onboard the ship, including access control, crowd management, and emergency response protocols.
• Conduct routine patrols of public areas, crew spaces, and restricted areas to deter unauthorized access, monitor for suspicious activity, and ensure compliance with security measures.
• Monitor surveillance cameras and security systems to identify security threats, safety hazards, and operational issues, and take appropriate action to address and resolve incidents.
• Respond to security incidents, emergencies, and medical situations onboard, providing assistance, first aid, and crisis intervention as needed, and coordinating with appropriate authorities and emergency response teams.
• Conduct investigations into security incidents, accidents, and guest complaints, documenting findings, collecting evidence, and preparing incident reports for management review and follow-up.
• Assist with gangway security, embarkation and disembarkation procedures, and luggage screening to ensure the safety and security of guests, crew, and ship facilities during port calls and shore excursions.
• Provide assistance and support to guests and crew members regarding security-related inquiries, concerns, and requests, demonstrating professionalism, discretion, and sensitivity to their needs.
• Participate in safety drills, training sessions, and exercises to maintain proficiency in emergency response procedures and ensure readiness for real-world incidents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in security, law enforcement, or related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or military service, with a demonstrated understanding of security principles, practices, and procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, crew members, and external authorities in a multicultural environment.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure and make sound judgments in emergency situations.
• Physical fitness and stamina to perform security duties, including standing, walking, and climbing stairs for extended periods, and the ability to lift and carry heavy objects as needed.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required in a 24/7 operation onboard a cruise ship.
• Proficiency in English; additional language skills are a plus, particularly languages commonly spoken by our international guests.
