A private conservation area within the Greater Kruger region is seeking a young, motivated, and bush-savvy Junior Security Manager to support reserve protection and safety operations. The ideal candidate is physically fit, disciplined, and passionate about conservation security, with a desire to grow into a more senior role under the guidance of experienced leadership.
This is a hands-on, field-based position requiring familiarity with firearms, security protocols, and remote-area operations.
Key Responsibilities :
Assist in coordinating and implementing daily reserve security protocols
Support fence line patrols, early detection of breaches, and general perimeter monitoring
Ensure effective gate access control and vehicle / visitor screening procedures
Patrol on foot and by vehicle, both day and night, in rotation with the security team
Respond to security threats, suspicious activity, and emergency incidents
Maintain and operate firearms in accordance with legal and operational protocols
Conduct basic training and supervision of junior security or field staff where required
Ensure security-related equipment (radios, torches, vehicles, firearms) is maintained and operational
Complete daily reports, incident logs, and firearm usage registers accurately
Uphold the highest levels of professionalism, discretion, and ethical conduct
Requirements
Grade 12 or equivalent
Valid Driver’s License (PDP an advantage)
Valid Firearm Competency Certificate (Business Purposes preferred – Handgun & Rifle)
Registered with PSIRA (minimum Grade C; higher advantageous)
At least 1–2 years’ experience in a security, reserve protection, military, or law enforcement environment
Physically fit and able to operate in challenging terrain and conditions
Strong understanding of security risk, bush safety, and operational radio use
Ability to remain calm, alert, and decisive in high-pressure situations
Preferred Attributes :
Young, energetic, and eager to develop within the field of conservation security
Comfortable living and working in remote, bush-based environments
Strong sense of responsibility, discipline, and situational awareness
Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to follow instruction
Basic computer and administrative skills for report writing and equipment logging
