Job description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies requires a Security Guard Supervisor for their Midrand Head Office/DC. You will be responsible for organizing and overseeing all security operations of the company and commanding security personnel while implementing organizational policies and procedures. Maintain security standards by creating and preserving an environment where employees, visitors, and property are safe and well-protected.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Grade C accreditation with PSIRA
  • PSIRA registered
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the retail industry, such as shopping malls and warehouses

Advantageous:

  • At least 1-year specific supervisory experience

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control access to premises, documenting and regulating entry of vehicles and pedestrians to ensure only authorized individuals enter.
  • Investigate and report signs of damage or unlawful entry, acting to protect Dis-Chem assets.
  • Maintain visibility as a deterrent to criminal activities, theft, damage, personal injury, and other misconducts.
  • Oversee access control, including searching staff, suppliers, and merchandisers, and ensure all doors and windows are secured at day's end.
  • Maintain registers and occurrence books accurately.
  • Manage staff and goods declarations and cancellations.
  • Supervise refuse removal according to company standards.
  • Protect company property and assets from dishonest acts and malicious behavior.
  • Conduct daily personnel screening and searches.
  • Ensure thorough vehicle searches throughout the day.
  • Conduct shift briefings to communicate updates and security concerns.
  • Ensure security systems like CCTV and alarms are operational, reporting issues promptly.
  • Implement preventative measures against accidents, thefts, and risks.
  • Report suspicious incidents verbally and in detailed written reports.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement and emergency services as required.
  • Respond swiftly and appropriately during crises, adhering to standard operating procedures.
  • Document incidents and daily activities accurately.
  • Enforce rules to prevent criminal activity.
  • Perform additional duties such as communication, errands, and scheduling security personnel.
  • Supervise all security personnel and security installations, including monitoring and patrols.
  • Educate and guide security staff on problem recognition and emergency response.

  • South African citizen with a clear criminal and credit record
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transport
  • Keen senses and physical ability to lift and move 50kg over 50 meters
